"Teen says man was at pond where girl's body found"

Resident says man acted 'real strange' at pond where Calif. girl's body found days later

A California man who lives near where an 8-year-old girl's body was found in a suitcase says he saw a man acting strangely at the irrigation pond where the remains were later recovered.

Stephen Memory said Friday that he has spoken to the FBI about what he saw.

The 19-year-old says he thought it was odd to see a beige Chevrolet Silverado truck parked on the shoulder of the road facing in the wrong direction on the afternoon of April 3. Sandra Cantu's body was found April 6.

Memory says the driver was a white man in his late 40s or early 50s. He says the man appeared to be looking down at the ditch beside the road.

The FBI referred questions to Tracy police, who declined to comment on the  investigation

"Calif. Sunday school teacher booked in child death"


Police said Saturday they do not know what motivated the Sunday school teacher they arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and killing an 8-year-old girl whose body was found in a suitcase dumped in an irrigation pond.

Melissa Huckaby, 28, a local minister's granddaughter, was arrested late Friday about five hours after she drove herself to the local police station at the request of officers, said police Sgt. Tony Sheneman. She was being held without bail in connection with the death of Sandra Cantu, the San Joaquin County sheriff's office said....................

Sheneman had earlier told The Associated Press that interviews with Huckaby in The Tracy Press had revealed inconsistencies that prompted further inquiries from investigators.

He had confirmed early Saturday that the suitcase in which the body was found belonged to Huckaby.

I don't feel we've heard the truth in this case yet, I believe this woman is covering up for someone else and will reveal more in the next week..

The police are watching someone else and waiting for him to run..

I stated before in another Blog (Shannon's) that I believe 2 or maybe 3 people were involved in this murder and I'm convinced that Melissa Huckaby did NOT act alone if she is involved..

First, Melissa is too mentally unstable to have perpetrated the crime by herself and she doesn't fit the profile I saw of a thin dark haired man that was a chain/heavy smoker........SHE DID NOT KILL SANDRA!!.....she was talked into participating in the abduction, not the murder...(even though she's still guilty!)

I think the police are trying to buy time until they get all of the DNA test back by stating they will be seeking the Death penalty against Melissa so soon...

"Becky" wrote in the comments in my Myspace Blog:  'It has been said that Melissa Huckaby dated that Sinclair guy that is a registered sex offender and that Police did speak with in the beginning'. (thanks Becky!)

If that is the case, then this man may be the other one that will also be charged when the DNA comes back......
